I hope that you are all having a great Passover Festival season! My wife
and I returned late last night from Reno, NV where we kept Passover and the
first day of unleavened bread. There were approximately 85 enthusiastic
brethren for the first day service. I understand that this was a record
attendance in Reno.
Mr. Meredith is in Nashville, TN for the Sabbath tomorrow. Mr. Apartian is
in Montreal, and Mr. Ames is in Los Angeles. I will be in Orange County
tomorrow. I have not received reports except for headquarters, where I
understand there was very good attendance. We are very thankful for
faithful brethren around the world. Mr. Syd Hull reports that he has
baptized 4 new people in the last couple of weeks who have responded to the
broadcast and literature Mr. Hull is translating, plus a couple of others
in March. Also, a significant number of others joining from our past
affiliation.
Mr. Bruce Tyler reports that there are new people responding now in
Australia. Six new people took their first Passover with us this year, and
three have requested counseling. Each new person baptized is precious in
God's sight, and a joy to us!
I was reflecting a few days ago how very blessed we are to have the
incredible instruments of communication available to us today. Radio and
Television were powerful tools for spreading the Gospel in the past, and
present, but today the INTERNET represents a totally new instrument which
is unimpeded by national boundaries. However, there is a down-side to the
INTERNET which all should understand. That is, unscrupulous individuals
are able to "spam" scurrilous disinformation representing it to be from
another party. We are experiencing a modern day representation of what the
Apostle Paul had to contend with , I think, when evil persons were sending
forged letters in his name--to disturb the brethren. Some of you have
received such "stuff" recently, but I think most of you have realized that
it was not from Dr. Meredith or headquarters.
On a very happy note, I just visited by phone with Mrs. Mary Hughes, a
member I baptized in 1960. Mrs. Hughes is a staunch, loyal, member of
God's Church, after thirty-nine years, and now ninety-nine years of age.
We must plan a celebration for next year when she turns one hundred!
Congratulations!
Have a good Sabbath, and feast.
