Response to Norbert Link from Canadian Minister Laurie Nyhus

Hi Norbert!

Please check the bylaws for the Canadian Corporation of the Global Church of God in Canada and you will find the rules set out for removal of Directors or members. A quick perusal and you will discover that the Canadian Corporation is totally separate from the US Global Church of God.

Let me quote the letter Colin Adair submitted to the Canadian authorities when we applied for charitable status: "The Global Church of God in Canada is a Canadian-based church which runs its own operations, but which looks to its parent organisation for direction in doctrine and teaching -." The Bylaws of the Global Church of God in Canada specifically state Dr. Meredith's position also and allow for his removal only by the Board of Directors in Canada with a 75% vote of the members.

From your confidential subject to attorney/client and attorney/work product privileges notes that you sent out to everyone (which our corporate lawyer found rather incredible that you would send out) which included part of your bylaws it appears you have the same rule down in the U.S. for the removal of any directors. You accuse us of hi-jacking the Corporation here? Why would you be so presumptuous to assume the Canadians would agree to your hi-jacking of the Corporation there. I don't remember

you being around when we started Global there and we held the first meetings in 1993 - 4. Where were you and Larry Salyer at that time? The brethren and ministry in Canada know Dr. Meredith, Carl McNair and they know me but they sure don't know you. Who is trying to hi-jack here?

We are carrying on business as usual as much as possible for the sake of the Brethren here in Canada - the brethren don't seem to be that high on the totem pole of concern by those who have caused this problem. They joined the Global Church of God in Canada, paid their tithes to further the work with Dr. Meredith as their leader and founder and it seems the vast majority want to continue to do so. By the way, the Canadian member mailing list belongs to the Global Church of God in Canada and no one outside the country can use it legally unless permission has been given to do so.

Unless you have permission from the Board of Directors please do not use the mailing list. The individuals removed as signatories on the bank account have given their allegiance to a group outside the Global Church of God in Canada and therefore you surely wouldn't expect them to continue to handle the funds for this organisation? Do you have Dr. Meredith's accountant handling your funds? I really enjoyed your comment about the meeting being held on Friday at 3:00 P.M. your time. Those of us in Canada wanted the meeting Thursday but delayed it to accomodate Mr. Pope and Mr. Hasanen at their request

knowing full well that you might try to make something out of it- by doing so you have confirmed our decision - the Canadian brethren will not fall for nonsense like that - they know their ministers up here and their track records of service and that the ministry would try to do only what is the best for them.

We would have preferred Thursday for the meeting as we requested but realized it was an emergency situation as we needed to inform the brethren on the Sabbath of events taking place. To us it was an obvious "ox in the ditch" emergency situation which God allows for on occasion.
